Advancing Housing Priorities Following Day at the Legislature 2026

On March 9-10, member-delegates from all eight CHBA BC local associations travelled to Victoria and met with key elected officials to discuss the challenges faced by residential home builders and what the government can do to empower our industry.

In all, we held meetings with:

  • The Premier;

  • 8 Ministers; and

  • Over 40 other key MLAs from across the province

We also hosted the Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs at a roundtable and the Official Opposition’s Critic for Housing for a fireside chat. In partnership with BCREA, day two featured a successful MLA reception with attendance from around 70 elected officials and their staff.

Discussions focused on three core areas of reducing the cost to build homes, stabilizing Step Codes, and streamlining permitting.
