Letter Submitted on Bill M 216 Professional Reliance Act

CHBA BC has submitted feedback to MLA George Anderson on the topic of Private Member’s Bill M 216: Professional Reliance Act. We are supportive of the sentiment at the heart of this Bill but urge government to engage in targeted consultation, not only with the six associations governed under Schedule 1 of the Professional Governance Act (PGA), but also with the building sector and other relevant groups.

Natural Resource Permitting Improvements Engagement Ongoing

Don’t forget to participate in the survey consultation before the deadline of December 12, 2025 on proposed changes to the Water Sustainability Act.

On November 5, CHBA BC participated in an engagement session hosted by the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship (WLRS) to discuss the proposed expansion of wetland definitions, the enforcement of a mitigation hierarchy plan, in-lieu offset payments, and increased reliance on qualified professionals.

CHBA BC is preparing a submission to the Ministry to advocate for further targeted consultation with industry and professional regulators, the development of wetlands delineation mapping, and the clarification of permit application requirements to prevent unnecessary delays for builders.
