CHBA BC Urges Province to Deliver GST and DCC Relief

Recently, CHBA BC along with other industry partners urged the province to strike a deal with the federal government in order to deliver GST and DCC relief and support the housing industry. This call comes after the government of Ontario secured such a deal with the federal government. With the federal government ready to engage, it’s up to the Province to step up.

Balancing Cost and Risk: New Dawn’s Blueprint for Transitioning to Step Code 4

A new case study from ZEBx is showcasing the industry leadership of CHBA BC member New Dawn Developments, which has made Energy Step Code 4 its standard approach. The East Kootenay builder has been in operation since 1978 and now builds more than 100 homes each year, ranging from single-family homes to low-rise multifamily buildings across multiple communities in the region.

New Dawn's transition from Step 3 to Step 4 offers a model for other homebuilders who want to reduce risk and get ahead of the next Energy Step Code change. The company’s goal is not simply about chasing the highest possible performance or adopting the most advanced technologies, but about finding the balance between cost, risk, and value.
